About Me

My love for gathering, preparing and displaying food can be attributed to my two grandmothers. While their dishes and way of gathering were quite different from each other, they both shared a love for getting people together over beautiful and thoughtfully prepared food. I always admired their resourcefulness, practicality, and use of their favorite platters, pots, and dishes.

Gathering and nurturing community means the world to me. As a social worker and a Camp Fire survivor who oversees disaster recovery, I have both witnessed and experienced the power of a well-connected community that gathers with purpose, meaning and joy. After the fire and the pandemic, catering and planning events has meant something more…a bold declaration to enjoy life, prepare food full of color, and create beautiful spaces to enjoy family, friends, and beyond.

I honed my love and skills for catering while working in a wine and cheese tasting room in Chico, CA for over ten years. I found this work fun and exhilarating as I was between degrees and contemplating “what to do with my life”. I simultaneously worked with school aged children which led me to social work where I focused my studies on bereavement, trauma, and healing-centered engagement. All of these experiences have convinced me of the importance of “artful gathering”, where the need to create invigorating and inviting spaces is recognized as a fundamental part of being human and being alive.

“A gathering begins at the moment of invitation. It doesn’t begin when people walk in the room”…. -Priya Parker

My Philosophy on Gathering…

I don’t know about you, but gathering after disasters and pandemics feels more important than ever. With that sense of importance, we want to gather and connect with others with a sense of authenticity, joy, play, and intention. I started to notice that my favorite parties and gatherings were ones that felt like home. The hostess uses their own platters, tablecloths, and dishes without obsessing about how things matched or coordinated. The hostess is calm, relaxed and enjoys the process of preparing for the party. The food is fresh, colorful, local and in season. There is a sense of abundance and generosity without being overly extravagant or excessive. It feels like we are done with putting our energy towards the perfect, Pinterest-worthy platter and instead focusing our efforts on enjoying the experience of getting together. This is where I love to help people with their gatherings: inviting joy, play and even a sense of calm in the creative pursuit of getting together.
